DIY Body Wash using Coconut Oil and Honey
When it comes to personal hygiene habits and washing the body, majority people use soap bars which are harsh and contain chemicals that might damage the skin. Instead of using chemical based body washes which are expensive, our advice is to prepare your own coconut oil body wash that is completely natural and completely safe for use.
This DIY body wash is easy to prepare, you will need natural ingredients that are cheap and don’t contain toxins that are harmful for the skin.
For the preparation of this homemade body wash, you will need:
Coconut oil is perfect for moisturizing of your skin as it has rich content of coco-nutrients that will not clog the skin pores and in same time will make your skin incredibly soft.
Honey will moisturize your skin, but in same time will heal your skin. Honey will regenerate your skin and will heal the scars and stains from your skin, and will restore its elasticity. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, honey will prevent the germs that might cause some disease or infection.
It is highly advisable to use raw and unfiltered honey.
Liquid castile soap is gentle and non-toxic. The pure liquid castle soap will give your homemade body wash enough suds, and you will avoid use of chemical based foaming agents. For preparation of this body wash, it is advisable to use an unscented castile soap or vegetable soap.
Essential oils possess potent antimicrobial and antiseptic properties and will cleanse your skin. Additionally, the essential oils will heal, repair, deodorize, soothe and disinfect your skin.
Vitamin E oil has antioxidant property and it will fight against the free radicals which damage the skin cells. This oil is essential for repairing as well as for moisturizing the skin.
Coconut Oil – Honey Body Wash
- ¼ cup virgin coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E
- ¼ cup raw honey
- 10–15 drops essential oil
- ½ cup of liquid castile soap
Method of preparation:
First of all melt the virgin coconut oil, but make sure to use indirect steaming or heat it in the microwave. After that, add the vitamin E, raw honey and 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil. Also, you can use combination of several oils. Stir well and slowly add the liquid castile soap.
Store your DIY body-wash in a glass or plastic bottle and that’s it. Your homemade body wash is ready for use. Shake well before each use.

Also, you can prepare this honey- carrier oil body wash:
- 2/3 cup of liquid castile soap
- ¼ cup of raw honey
- 2 teaspoons of carrier oil (olive oil or sweet almond or jojoba or grapeseed oil)
- 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
- 5–6 drops essential oil
Method of preparation:
All you should do is to pour the needed ingredients in a plastic bottle. Shake well before use.
Note: instead of honey and vitamin E oil, you can use rosewater.
Another option is to prepare this body-wash:
In a glass jar, add ½ cup of coconut milk, 2/3 cup castile soap, 3 teaspoons vitamin E oil, 5 drops lavender oil and 2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin. Stir well and use it regularly within a short span of time.
Tips and Precautions:
You can use these DIY body wash products in a period of a few months because the ingredients have longer shelf life.
The homemade body washes are completely natural and you should keep in mind that they will not lather like the commercial body washes. However, the DIY body washes are as efficient as the commercial ones: these products will cleanse your skin and will keep it hydrated.
By adding sea salt you will get a thicker consistency and you can use the body wash as a natural body scrub.
You can experiment with different combinations of oils and you will get many different body washes with amazing scent.
